Drawing.

Since I was a kid I loved art,  drawing and painting.  However the main purpose of me choosing to paint this term was the part of my plan of donation money to charity,  which I found.  I wanted to donate money to the charity and a girl who has a big health problems by celling national pasteries  on the Azerbaijani, Persian and Turkish New Year.  The New Year was on the 21 of April. Unfortunately my plan didn't work out because of the exam week that all the students had at BIS.
One of the pictures I drew is called "Novruz", which is the coming of spring and the day of astronomical vernal equinox.
Other pictures I drew are related to spring,  since no spring is coming to Russia i decided to see it through my paintings.  I am not good at drawing pictures with water colors and now of the pictures I drew with them.  So I think I undertook new challenges and developed new skills.  I also planned and initiated my activities and shown perseverance and commitment since I spent a long time for drawing and pairing.
The pictures,  which are drew:

Making a trophy!

As a creativity part of my CAS, this term i chose to make a trophy for the inter house competition winners.
Mr Giddens gave this idea to me and Yein.  We were supposed to make a trophy from chess pieces.  They were very tall. And I think the pieces,  which were in the art room, were: king,  pawn and a queen.
The main goal was to make a trophy as tall as Mr Giddens :)
Me and Yein started planning the activity.  We chose a convenient time for both of us,  which was Wednesday,  lunch time and made posters. By dong this we planned and initiated our activity.  As I have never before made a trophy from the paper masher,  i had to such for some  technics in the internet.  I think I undertook new challenges and developed new skills. When I read the description it wasn't that hard to overcome anymore.
This term we run the activity three times on Wednesdays.  It wasn't a lot, but we managed to do something.
Some of the students came. And with Yein's and a couple of students help we cut the top parts of the chess pieces and got them ready for sticking on to p of each other.  We also made a square,  which will be the base of the trophy.
Me and Yein stopped the activity because not a lot of students came and our teacher recommended us to continue the activity when a new art teacher comes.  I hope that we will successfully continue our activity next term !! And end up with a very beautiful trophy,  which we can give to a winner of the house competitions, if not this year then next year :)

The weather club.

It's been already seven months since the start of the school.  And from September IB students were taking the weather readings.
Every one knows about the global warming,  which causes a lot of problems today.  Our weather club shows us how the temperature changes over years. Once we finish the school this year and we will start doing a new weather club and then compare them.  Therefore by comparing them we can know how the temperature change and what were the affects of global temperature change.
Each of us are separated into groups.  I am doing the weather club with Sabina.  Because they are a lot of IB students in year 12 and 13,  we don't have to take the readings every day.
I think by doing this activity I engage with issues of global importance and also show perseverance and commitment of my actions

Making nests for birds.

It is already spring and birds are going to migrate to warm countries very soon.  There are not a lot of birds now in Russia but very soon they will migrate here.
I decided to make nests for birds. Because there are not enough nests birds cannot lay their eggs sometimes.  So by making a nest I think I have engaged with issues of global importance. I also undertook new challenges and developed new skills as I never made a bird nest before.
A very firs thing that I had to do was to develop a simple but effective way to make it. I surged on the internet but all of those ways didn't suit my needs.  So that is why I came up with my own way of making it.  I took my moms plastic bowl,  found some paper bags and a glue.
The second step was to cut a paper bag into small pieces.  Once I did that there were a lot of small papers,  which is good because the nest has to be warm and soft.  After that I covered the plastic bowl with glue from the inside.  And stuck the papers on the inner side.  I couldn't   turn the bowl because it had to dry so I waited for 10 minutes.
Then I did the same with the other side of the bowl.
So nest was ready and the final thing was to put some raspings in it so that it will be comfortable for birds to lay their eggs. I had a hamster a long time ago and his rasping were still left.  So I used all of it for the nest.
I think by doing this I have shown perseverance and commitment. And increased my own strenght and areas for growth.
I nest still didn't put the nest on a tree but planning to do that very soon. And as I really liked making a I think I will make it once more!

Winter Sports Day !!

The sports day in our school is always interesting but this sports day was the best one  for me and I think most of the students enjoyed it.
It is already spring but it is still snowing.  Some people might want warm weather to come faster but on the sports day at BIS students were happy that it is still snowing.
As an IB students year 12th and 13th  had to organise different activities for other year groups.   There were a lot of different types of intertaining activities as castle making, finding tressure and etc. The activity, which my group run was making a snowman :) My partners in the group were Yein and Nasha.
Firstly the day before the sports day we had to prepare for our activity and find all the needed materials for making a snowman.  Mr O'Connor showed us a room where we could take different kinds of beautiful decorations.  We chose some of them,  bought carrots for the snowman's nose and brought some extra scarfs and decorations.
We had four year groups coming to the activity and first of the groups was year 8.  Before the winter sports day, I was never in charge of so many kids.  Therefore I undertook new challenges and understood how hard is it to be a teacher and explain to so many children what to do. I worked collaborately with Yein and Nasha.
We have recorded all the scores for the teams.  All the snowman's wich students made were very nice and creative,  but the best scores we gave to year 10 students,  because their snowman's were like a sculptures.  By running this activity i increased my own strenght and areas for growth.  And I also think that i have shown perseverance and commitment.  The materials and decorations were getting used up very quickly and that is why we were choosing new decorations before each year group came.
All the students were very confident and they also had a lot of fun.  I am happy that the activity went on very well and the snowman's and sculptures are still at BIS, they are making a view of school nicer.
By running the activity I also considered the ethincal implications of my own actions.
THe outcomes,  which were not present:

Me Yein and Nasha also decided to do some sculptures from the snow.  We also wanted to make a snowman but unfortunately we didn't have time.  However we (and mostly Yein) made a very cute Mickey Mouse :)
  • engaged with issues of global importance.
  • planned and initiated activities.
